Fall Classic Final Game Captures 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51M watchers in the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game averaged 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally is the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in 13th place.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 PM local time, it drew 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete US average reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million watchers, an eight percent rise over last year and Fox’s best playoff performance since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
